Casting Manager will be in charge of casting and hiring Japanese voice actors in accordance with clients' budget and creative requirements. He/she will be responsible for leading negotiation with actors/agencies for booking and guarantees.Casting Manager must have vast knowledge of a huge range of actors and an extensive understanding of their abilities and voice characteristic, as well as a thorough appreciation of changing talent trends within voice production/localization in video game industry.


  • Previous working experience as casting coordinator for 3+ years in Japanese voice production company and/or as freelancer.
  • Must be able to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
  • Deep knowledge of Japanese voice actors, industry trends and best practices.
  • Strong connection to voice actors/agencies of all rank, from VIP/celebrity actors to standard/junior actors.
  • Native level Japanese communication, persuasion and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of video game and its industry (publishers, developers, platforms, etc.) is a plus.
  • Team management and leadership skills.
  • Availability to travel to other locations.
  • Business level English is preferable.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Understand casting requirements in accordance with the project information shared from Audio Project Manager.
  • Study casting material such as character description, script, reference source voice data and/or recording volume breakdown etc. to understand casting requirements.
  • Influence Producers and Artistic Directors on which actors to hire.
  • Contact actors/agencies to determine their availability.
  • Send casting reference and recording assets such as character description, reference source voice data, final vertically-formatted recording scripts etc. to actors/agencies.
  • Book actors and determine their recording schedule.
  • Make actor recommendations to clients based on live casting and/or database casting.
  • Provide the list of candidate actors to clients through Audio Project Manager for the final confirmation as necessary.
  • Participate in production meetings with clients.
  • Find replacements, as needed, during production for actors who can't fulfil their contracts.
  • Participate in negotiations of recording fees and conditions with actors/agencies when applicable, in accordance to APMs requests as demanded by client.
  • Assessing project casting budget whenever requested by the APMs, maintaining forecasted margin during project execution.
  • Collect invoices from actors/agencies and report final cost to Audio Project Manager.
  • Establish a friendly and professional relationship with internal/external Artistic Directors and Producers.
  • Act as a liaison between the company and actors/agencies.
  • Advising Audio Manager with regards to Actors' Unions and agreements with Talents Agencies.
  • Supporting in defining final customers PL based evaluating our competitors, standard actor fees from our market and any potential criteria
  • Organize and supervise a team of Casting Assistants as necessary to fulfil responsibilities.
