Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior UE5 Open-World Level Artist to join our team and contribute to international AAA game projects.

In this role, you will be responsible for building high-quality open-world environments using Unreal Engine 5. You will work closely with Art Directors, Level Designers, Technical Artists, and international project teams to co-create game worlds that meet global AAA standards.

The ideal candidate possesses not only exceptional artistic expression but also a solid technical foundation in UE5, with the ability to independently construct, optimize, and deliver massive open-world regions.

Key ResponsibilitiesOpen-World Scene Layout & Composition

  • Build open-world regions based on concept art, design documentation, and visual targets.
  • Responsible for large-scale terrain sculpting, asset placement, ecosystem design, and environmental storytelling.
  • Create immersive game environments that offer rich exploration value.
  • Complete the full production pipeline from Blockout to Final Art.
  • Collaborate with the Level Design team to optimize player exploration, visual guidance, and spatial pacing.

UE5 Environment Production & Optimization

  • Proficiently utilize UE5 open-world pipelines and tools, including:
    • World Partition
    • Data Layers
    • One File Per Actor (OFPA)
    • Landscape
    • Foliage
    • HLOD
    • Nanite
    • Lumen
    • PCG (Procedural Content Generation)
  • Responsible for scene performance optimization and asset management.
  • Participate in establishing open-world production standards and best practices.
  • Drive the implementation and integration of cutting-edge UE5 technologies within the project.

Team Collaboration

  • Maintain highly efficient communication with clients, Art Directors, Level Designers, and technical teams.
  • Participate in reviews, feedback loops, and project milestone deliveries.
  • Mentor and guide junior and mid-level artists to foster their growth.
  • Assist in elevating the team's overall production efficiency and quality standards.

Experience & Requirements

Mandatory Qualifications
  • 5+ years of professional experience in the game industry.
  • Contributed to at least one shipped AA or AAA game project.
  • Direct development experience in open-world projects.
  • Proficient in Unreal Engine 5.
  • Outstanding skills in scene composition, spatial design, and environmental storytelling.
  • Familiar with large-scale map production pipelines and asset management specifications.
  • Capable of independently taking ownership of massive regions from production to final quality control.
  • Good English documentation reading comprehension and cross-team collaboration skills

Technical Competencies

Candidates must possess one or more of the following core technical capabilities:

  • Practical, project-proven experience with World Partition.
  • Experience in large map Streaming management.
  • Experience optimizing Nanite and Lumen.
  • Experience building and optimizing HLODs.
  • Experience with PCG (Procedural Content Generation) environment creation.
  • Experience with Landscape tools for large-scale terrain generation.
  • Experience in scene performance profiling and optimization.
  • Experience with UE5 open-world collaborative development pipelines.

Preferred Qualifications (Pluses)

Priority will be given to candidates with experience in:

  • Houdini / Houdini Engine workflow experience.
  • Blueprint development capabilities.
  • Material and Shader creation experience.
  • Python tool development experience.
  • A Technical Artist background.
  • Photogrammetry project experience.
  • Multiplayer online open-world project experience.
  • Console platform development experience (PS5 / Xbox Series X|S).
  • International AAA project development experience.

  • Priority given to portfolios showcasing: World Partition examples, PCG examples, Houdini workflows, Scene optimization cases, or Technical tool development.

Preferred Project Experience

Experience in the following game genres is highly preferred:

  • Large-scale Open-World RPGs
  • Open-World Action games
  • Survival Crafting games
  • MMO Open-World projects
  • Console AAA projects

Reference Titles: The Witcher series, Red Dead Redemption series, Ghost of Tsushima, Horizon series, Assassin's Creed series, Cyberpunk 2077.
