Junior Technical Designer (UK-based 12 month Fixed Term Contract)

You’ll be based out of our state-of-the-art studio located in the heart of the beautiful Albert Dock in Liverpool overlooking the Harbour.
We are seeking a Junior to Mid-level Technical Designer to work on multiple unannounced AAA FPS titles. We value the player experience. You will have a direct impact on key gameplay, scripted events, and the moment-to-moment player experience.
This role sits at the intersection of design and engineering, and you will be responsible for implementing scripted events and building scalable solutions within a proprietary engine - all crucial to the gameplay experience.

Experience & Requirements
- Professional experience implementing gameplay and level events on a shipped title (console experience preferred but not mandatory).
- Professional experience with visual scripting systems (e.g. Unreal Blueprint or comparable node-based systems).
- Solid general scripting skills and understanding of gameplay logic. Experience implementing gameplay systems and event/level scripting at production scale.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Clear communicator who can collaborate effectively with both designers and engineers.
Responsibilities
- Implement gameplay and level events using visual scripting and proprietary toolsets.
- Build reusable templates and scripting frameworks to reduce duplication and accelerate iteration.
- Help resolve gameplay issues across legacy and newly built systems.
- Collaborate closely with gameplay programmers to evolve or refactor underlying systems where necessary.
- Identify and reduce technical debt within gameplay content.
- Support designers by providing technical solutions that preserve design intent.
- Document scripting workflows and best practices for the wider team.
