At Lively, we pride ourselves on making games full of character. The world is fun and silly and sad and infuriating and banal and beautiful and ugly, and all of those things have a place in our games.

Lively hunger for difference — we celebrate it, support it, and thrive on it for the benefit of our employees, products, and community. Lively is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace. We provide a comprehensive benefits package and an award-winning environment to work in; we are not idle - we always strive to do better for our employees.

We are currently looking for a Lead Designer to join our hybrid team— our office is based in Leamington Spa, but this role is open to remote workers, and we offer hybrid or fully in-office options to anyone within reasonable commuting distance.

We are only able to consider candidates who are based within the EU time zone. What Does a Lead Designer Do at Lively? Lead Designers are responsible for the quality of the overall game design of the product they're assigned to. As lead, you will work closely with the other discipline leads to ensure the Game Director's vision is expressed through the design of the game. This is a role that requires outstanding communication skills, creative problem-solving, and at least passing knowledge of all areas of game design (though specializing in one is fine, you have to know all areas of the game design well enough to assess the quality of your team's execution).

  • Takes overall responsibility for the quality of game design on a title.
  • Empowers, mentors and coaches the design team to be the best them they can be.
  • Ensures smooth, clear communication within the design team and with other disciplines.
  • Responds to and implements feedback from data analysis, reviews and playtests.
  • Works with the Game Director and the whole team to ensure the game is delivering the correct experience for the audience and the commercial intentions of the game.
  • Brings infectious enthusiasm for the game to their team; when a team has fun making a game, players can tell.
