Keywords Studios announces new studios and expansion in Australia alongside MIGW
Keywords Studios, the international technical and creative services provider to the global video games industry, has announced further expansion in Australia with the opening of new studios in Brisbane and Adelaide, as well as involvement with Melbourne International Games Week (MIGW).
Having extended its presence to Australia in late 2020, Keywords has grown to 170 staff in Australia working on some of the world’s best games. Australian studios that have joined Keywords Studios include Tantalus Media, Wicked Witch and Mighty Games.
The new facilities, Tantalus North in Brisbane and Tantalus South in Adelaide, are set up as extensions of Tantalus Melbourne and focus primarily on game development. With 57% of the Australian games industry currently based in Melbourne, the new studios will see Keywords offer new opportunities for skilled and talented games workers across the country. Plans are already in place to hire 30 more employees in Australia over the next few months.
Together with assistance from the Victoria government, Keywords aims to further expand its presence in Australia, attract local talent and help strengthen the video games industry in the region. The company sponsored the official opening night of Melbourne International Games Week and are proudly sponsoring Games Connect Asia Pacific, GCAP. Its talented team also took part in a panel on advanced engineering topics featuring Senior Engineer Anna Tito. Finally, Keywords is also presenting Megadev to officially close MIGW and which this year expects over 700 attendees.
Tom Davies, Head of New Studios & Integration at Keywords in Australia, commented:
“Keywords Studios’ presence in Australia has grown rapidly to five studios across three states, employing over 170 people. However, this is only the start. We are very excited about what our team has achieved already and look forward to an exciting future.”
